The founding spirit of Osaka Sangyo University is "Be a great ordinary person" by the founder of the university, Genzaburo Sejima. "Be a great ordinary person" means that "rather than utilitarian or careerist ideas such as becoming a person with high honors or status, one who finds meaning in life and finds joy in contributing to human society is the greatest person."
