Founding spirit

The founding spirit of Osaka Sangyo University is "Be a great ordinary person" by the founder of the university, Genzaburo Sejima. "Be a great ordinary person" means that "rather than utilitarian or careerist ideas such as becoming a person with high honors or status, one who finds meaning in life and finds joy in contributing to human society is the greatest person." Since its founding, the university has been cultivating this spirit through various educational and research activities.

Educational Purpose

In order to realize its educational philosophy, Osaka Sangyo University University aims to teach a wide range of basic knowledge and in-depth specialized academic knowledge in the humanities, society, nature, etc., to cultivate sensitivity, application and development capabilities, and practical skills, as well as to foster humanity and sociality.

Diploma Policy

Our university aims to develop students who realize the spirit and educational philosophy of our founding and who have acquired the ability to contribute widely to society. Students must have a broad understanding of basic knowledge related to humanities, society, nature, etc., the ability to think and judge to identify and solve problems based on in-depth knowledge in a specialized field, the motivation and attitude to learn independently, and the ability to express their own opinions. Students who have acquired the required credits and met the department's standards for graduation theses, etc. will be certified as graduating and a degree will be awarded.

Curriculum Policy

In order to achieve the requirements set out in the diploma policy, our university provides an education that cultivates human resources who can contribute to society while building on practical studies.To that end, the faculties and departments organize a curriculum that is based on general education subjects in which students learn the basics of humanities, social science, and nature, specialized basic subjects that form the basis of their research field, specialized subjects in which students can systematically learn in-depth knowledge and application, and graduation thesis that develops problem-solving skills based on that comprehensive knowledge and understanding.

Admissions Policy

The students we are looking for are people who empathize with our founding spirit of "Be great ordinary people," who have acquired sufficient learning ability to receive education in accordance with our educational objectives, who are motivated to cultivate knowledge and skills that can be utilized in society, and who want to hone their practical skills to proactively tackle the problems they face. In order to properly accept such students, we conduct a variety of entrance examinations.

Our Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School aims to foster students who realize the spirit and educational philosophy of our founding and who have acquired the ability to contribute widely to society. In a highly complex industrial society, we require students to develop advanced theories and their application skills in specialized fields, the ability to discover future problems from a global perspective and solve them independently, and communication skills and ethics based on extensive academic knowledge. Students who have acquired the required credits and passed the master's or doctoral thesis examination and the final examination will be certified as having completed the program and will be awarded a degree.

We accept highly motivated Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School who share our founding spirit of "Be great ordinary people," who have acquired sufficient culture and basic academic ability to receive education in accordance with our educational objectives through undergraduate (bachelor's) or Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School (master's) Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School, who have acquired an attitude of independent learning and research, and who are able to discover problems on their own and work to solve them.
